About the author

In Micro Flight there is no difference between your glider and the others, all have full details and fly when controlled by you, passing between them is fast simple.

There are three ways to select gliders in Micro Flight:

  • Using the gliders dialog.
  • Using the Tab button to pass quickly between gliders.
  • Using the F1, F2 to control and detach a glider.

When F1 is pressed the closest glider is selected and the camera is placed in it's cockpit.
When F2 is pressed, camera is set to chase view, pressing it again detaches the glider.
After the glider is detached there is no active glider and the camera is free inside the scene.

When the camera is free it can move by itself, and still use the map, HUD and GPS to navigate in the scene, but no glider is under your control, pressing Tab or F1 will quickly take control of the closest glider.

Select change gliders from the menu, the following dialog will appear:

On the left side you can see the gliders in the scene, for each of them you can change some settings, but first you must select the glider form the list.

The settings you can change are:

  • Change cruise altitude
  • Change fuel quantity
  • Turn the engine on/off
  • Break or repair the glider.

The glider you control is marked by the word (me) , you can select any other glider and press "Set as my glider", this will move the camera to that glider and let you control it.

To remove a glider from the scene, select the glider from the list and press "Remove >>".
To add a glider to the scene, select it from the list on the right side, and press " << Add".
The description on the bottom and the picture show details of the glider you have selected from either lists.

Towing gliders:

When you fly a glider you can add a tow plane at any time, this tow plane will be created in front of your glider at a distance of 50 m, and a cable will be attached between your glider and this tow plane.

The tow plane is flying with it's autopilot turned on, and will climb untill it reaches it's climb altitude, at the same time it will navigate to the waypoints along the route.

If the tow plane has no waypoint assigned as next waypoint, it will simply mantain the altitdue and fly along a straight path.

You can only add a tow plane when you control a glider, or the tow will not be created.

To create a tow for the glider you control, select the tow plane from the list on the right side and press "<< Tow me", this will add the selected glider as your tow plane and attach the tow line between your glider and the tow plane.

To detach the cable press C or pull the cable handle in the cockpit.
